MAIDEN: Kathrine MOTHER: Micheline CRONE: Josephine ***
I moved to New York City when I was almost 21 years old. I tried to detach from those roots but it was not possible. I got sick physically and dealt with many health issues over that 1st year. Moving from an island where the beach is 10 min down the hill no matter where you are makes it impossible to fully embrace city life. I wear many hats and my responsibilities have changed over the 24 years I have spent in NY. At 25, I got a job as a flight attendant and I also got a divorce. That year everything crumbled, again! That year, I also started going back to my roots. I moved to the Rockaway's. Queens and I found the beach again. It was everything I needed to heal. The beach and being able to get out of NY and get lost in different towns and cities all over the world. I was whole again. I was what many would describe, the happiest single girl on earth. And, of course, I met my true soul mate and now husband. Since then more things have changed. I had my daughter in 2008, I gladly gave up my charter flight attendant job to be a stay at home mom. That transition was something I wanted, yet it was not easy to go from bouncing all over the world to waking up and taking walks to the same beach every day. In 2010 I had my son. In 2015 I finally dove into my 200 hr teacher training. I now teach yoga, do energy work and sound healing. I grew and evolved and changed. Some things never changed. I have lived in NY longer than I ever lived in Malta. Yet, Malta is still home. I come fully alive when I am there. The ties to my family are just as strong as the day I left. I now have 2 sister in laws, a nephew and 3 nieces. So, many more in Malta to love. However, I learned to detach. Being away is no longer painful. We do our best to get home every year. When we are there we live in my parents house and some days are tough. I love my parents to pieces but that does not mean our relationships are easy. My mother and I are completely different beings. Yet, I’ve gone home almost every year. My daughter Kathrine is very close to her and have many similarities. My mother’s mom is still alive, her health has dwindled but there is something powerful when all 4 of us are together. The powerful divine feminine of 4 generations and I feel so blessed to still have that. All 4 relationships are difficult and complicated in their own ways. Over the years I’ve always felt it in my soul to do whatever it takes to make it work. To find a way to always have time together, to make memories, to continue to learn from these warriors. My mother can grow anything, milk her goat and make cheese. She can cook a feast that was grown and raised on her land. These are things that are getting lost and when we lose the connection to our roots we simply lose ourselves. ***
In Closing, I asked Mitch this question: "In one word describe the Legacy, Navigation and Medicine of your Triada?" LEGACY: Warrior NAVIGATION: Truth MEDICINE: Creativity
